Listening to the new podcast episode! We started getting together with a few other families last year and we call it faux-op! I kept saying our non co-op and one of the moms called it faux-op and that’s what we call it now. We love faux-op!
Do the Beautiful Feet study packs have an american history picture book study pack? I am doing the around the world pack with picture books from them this year.
Kara, for your boy, check out Math Essentials. They are very affordable workbooks and each lesson in the workbook has a free online video lesson taught by a very good math teacher. My oldest loves it. All of the lessons are short and sweet and it rakes 20 minutes a day tops. I am actually so surprised that not many people have heard of it, but it is seriously the best video lesson thing we’ve tried, and we’ve tried them all. The main thing is that it is not overwhelming and time consuming.
What planner are you both using this year? Heard you say something in the podcast about it but didn’t see anything posted in the show notes. Thanks so much sisters for all that you do! Love you both!
Cait, I second Katie’s suggestion for Beautiful Feet Books and their American History pack. You might also look at the D’Aulaire’s pack, as well, which includes gorgeous books about people like Ben Franklin, Pocahontas, and George Washington. My daughter practically absorbs them into her body when we look at them. We currently use the Beautiful Feet “Around the World with Picture Books” curriculum and it’s fantastic! The curriculum gives you a set of books and then a tremendous list of books to borrow from the library, so you don’t end up breaking the bank (quite as much).
Kara, you might also check your library for Mango Languages. It’s an app for 10-minute language classes. I have it on my phone. It might be a simple supplement to Rosetta Stone. My daughter asks me to play with it and is “accidentally” learning Spanish. She’s better at it than I am!
Thanks for the suggestion of Outschool classes on American Girls! We will definitely look into adding that next year when we start our American history studies.
You ladies rock! Thank you for this episode … and all the others, too. I’m glad to be able to listen to “my” sisters again!
Could you share the list of musicals your friend gave you?? My kids LOVE Home Alone!! There’s something so fun about sharing our childhood favorites.
